Rumours about Keerthy Suresh’s transformation have been circulating online for quite some time now. From social media users questioning her sudden weight loss to speculation about surgeries and health concerns, the actor has constantly found herself at the centre of online discussions. Now, Keerthy has finally decided to address the conversation herself, and her honest post about fitness, body image and mental health is winning attention online.
According to Keerthy, things changed after Mahanati in 2018. During a break, she decided to take fitness seriously and began experimenting with workouts and diet changes. The actor revealed that she followed high-intensity interval training (HIIT), cardio and a high-protein, low-carb diet. Over nine months, she managed to lose 10 kilograms.
However, instead of appreciation, Keerthy said she was hurt by the way people reacted to her transformation. Many online users claimed she looked “weak” while others accused her of undergoing cosmetic procedures or surgeries.
‘I’ve always kept things natural’
Addressing the rumours directly, Keerthy clarified that her transformation was achieved naturally through discipline and consistency. She said it upset her when people dismissed her hard work and reduced her fitness journey to surgery rumours.
The actor explained that she has always preferred natural methods, even when it comes to her appearance, and hearing such comments affected her emotionally. Keerthy also spoke about how public opinion around body image can often feel confusing and contradictory. She pointed out that people criticise women for being overweight, but once they become slimmer, they are again judged for looking “too thin”.
How Yoga changed her perspective on fitness
While gym workouts helped her lose weight initially, Keerthy admitted she eventually realised she was not approaching fitness the right way in the beginning.
She wrote, "Eventually, in 2020, I turned to yoga. That changed everything. It gave me balance, confidence, and a way to care for myself that actually felt right. But with time, I realised the truth: the gym did work! I just wasn’t doing it the right way. And I understood how crucial strength training really is. Now, strength training anchors my routine. I balance it with yoga, animal flow, cardio and callisthenics. This is honestly the best I’ve felt. The love and care I’m giving my body now? I know it only gets better from here!"
She also admitted that the last few months had not been easy personally. Keerthy revealed that she recently faced both physical and mental setbacks, which also explains why she had stayed away from the spotlight for some time.
Despite the challenges, the actor said her journey has taught her that taking breaks is okay, but giving up is not.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Keerthy was last seen in Revolver Rita, directed by JK Chandra in 2025. The film also featured Radikaa Sarathkumar, Redin Kingsley, Mime Gopi and Sendrayan in important roles. The movie is currently streaming on Netflix.
