The ongoing controversy surrounding Ravi Mohan, estranged wife Aarti Ravi and singer-therapist Keneeshaa Francis has taken yet another dramatic turn. Days after Ravi Mohan made emotional allegations during a press conference, Aarti’s mother and producer Sujatha Vijayakumar has now publicly responded to several of his claims while defending her daughter.
The family dispute, which has already sparked intense discussions online, continues to grow with fresh statements, counter-allegations and social media reactions from people close to the couple.
Ravi Mohan’s emotional press meet sparked controversy
Recently, Ravi Mohan held an emotional press conference where he spoke about cyberbullying, personal struggles and the emotional pressure he has allegedly faced during his ongoing divorce battle. The actor claimed he had been harassed, humiliated and emotionally exhausted over the past two years.
He also spoke about Keneeshaa Francis, who recently hinted at stepping away from Chennai and distancing herself from public life after facing heavy trolling online. Ravi blamed cyberbullying for affecting both him and Keneeshaa and accused people of interfering in his personal life.
The actor additionally alleged that he was not being allowed to meet his sons, Aarav and Ayaan, amid the ongoing dispute.
Sujatha Vijayakumar denies Ravi’s allegations
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of an event, Sujatha Vijayakumar strongly denied several of Ravi Mohan’s claims. Responding to his statement about not being able to meet his children, she said that was completely untrue.
When reporters questioned her about Ravi’s allegations regarding emotional blackmail before marriage, Sujatha referred to an old interview published in Vikatan magazine in 2008. According to her, that interview would reveal the real story behind the marriage and “who actually blackmailed whom” and “who cut their wrists” before the wedding took place. Her remarks quickly went viral online.
"There was an interview in Vikatan magazine in 2008 that explained this. I am looking for it now. It reveals who got blackmailed and who cut their wrists to get married."
Reaction to financial and cyberbullying claims
Sujatha also dismissed Ravi’s claims that he did not have freedom over his own earnings during the marriage. She stated that the matter had already been clarified in court proceedings. When asked about Ravi’s statement regarding paying Rs 25,000 monthly for her medical expenses, Sujatha denied it. She further added that even if such support had been given, it would simply have been a son-in-law fulfilling his responsibility towards the family.
Reacting to allegations that Keneeshaa Francis had been cyberbullied, Sujatha said their side would approach the Cyber Crime department to determine who was actually responsible for online harassment in the case.
During his press meet, Ravi Mohan had indirectly referred to a “three-letter idli actress”, a remark many social media users linked to actor-politician Khushbu Sundar. When asked about the comment, Sujatha avoided naming Khushbu directly but said, "In Tamil Nadu, when injustice is done to women, everyone speaks up. Millions of people comment on Aarti’s posts. I won’t accept if he says that two or three particular people supported her. I would like to not speak further on this matter, as it would be contempt of court. I have faith in the law. Give us time to answer all these allegations."
Sujatha also stressed that she had faith in the legal system and asked for time to respond to all allegations properly.
Family stress and social media reactions
Apart from addressing the controversy, Sujatha also expressed concern about the emotional impact the public dispute was having on her grandson. According to reports quoted by ETV Bharat, she said, "The reason I am not exaggerating this is because my grandson is writing his 10th standard exams and is under a lot of stress due to this issue. He has seen everything he should not have seen at a young age. That’s why he’s under a lot of stress."
Meanwhile, trans activist and author Thanuja Singam also criticised Ravi Mohan through a social media video. Thanuja accused the actor of playing the “victim card” and claimed that the controversy escalated because of actions taken within his own circle.
For the unversed, Ravi Mohan and Aarti Ravi married in 2009 after several years of dating and were once considered one of Kollywood’s most admired celebrity couples. However, Ravi announced their separation in 2024 after 15 years of marriage, and the divorce battle has since become one of the most talked-about controversies in the Tamil film industry.
