ED has arrested Aam Aadmi Party leader Deepak Singla. On Monday, ED teams raided several locations in Delhi and Goa for hours. After this action, the agency detained AAP leader Deepak Singla and later arrested him. According to sources, this entire matter is to alleged bank loan fraud, in which allegations of financial irregularities and money laundering are being investigated. Many documents and digital records are also being examined as part of the investigation. The ED team had started simultaneous raids at various locations in Delhi and Goa since morning.
Deepak Singla has been the Aam Aadmi Party candidate from Vishwas Nagar assembly seat of Delhi. Even in 2024, during the ongoing investigation against him, ED had raided his residence. Singla is also linked to the expansion of the party organization, especially his role in the strategy of increasing the party’s activities in Maharashtra and Goa.
Meanwhile, former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has tried to give it a political color by raising questions on this action. He alleged that this action has been taken due to the increasing popularity of Aam Aadmi Party in Goa. Atishi also claimed that raids have also been conducted on AAP workers in Goa and linked it to cases like West Bengal and said that efforts are being made to weaken the data and organization of the opposition parties.
Second big action in 9 days
According to sources, the ED team interrogated Singla for hours. During this time, he could not give satisfactory answers to many questions, while he kept avoiding some questions. After this the investigating agency decided to arrest him. Political reaction regarding this action has also intensified. Party leaders say that the scope of action by investigating agencies has increased in the last few days and it is being seen as political. It is noteworthy that on May 9 also, Punjab Government Minister Sanjeev Arora was arrested in a separate case. In such a situation, the arrest of two big leaders of Aam Aadmi Party within 9 days has further heated the political atmosphere.
Wherever there are elections, there ED-CBI action
Aam Aadmi Party has made serious allegations against the Central Government and the investigating agencies regarding this matter. Party leader and former minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said that wherever elections are held, the action of investigative agencies against leaders of opposition parties increases. He alleged that there were elections in Delhi in 2025, before that the action of ED and CBI during 2022, 2023 and 2024 was focused on the leaders of Delhi. According to him, many ministers, MPs and even chief ministerial level leaders had to face investigation.
Saurabh Bhardwaj further claimed that even during the election atmosphere in West Bengal, the activity of ED, CBI and Income Tax Department had increased. Now, amid the intensification of political activities in Punjab and Goa, raids and investigative actions are taking place there too. He said that ED raided the Delhi and Goa locations of AAP co-in-charge Deepak Singla in Goa, following which he was arrested. The party says that this entire action is politically motivated.
