New Aadhaar App Launch: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is soon going to discontinue the old mAadhaar app. Users will now need to migrate to the new Aadhaar App, which offers special features such as QR-based Aadhaar sharing, face authentication, and enhanced privacy controls. Consequently, users are advised to switch to the new platform without delay to avoid facing any inconvenience in the future.

mAadhaar Discontinued: Why is the mAadhaar app being discontinued?

UIDAI is striving to make its services more secure and modern. Therefore, this new app has been introduced to replace the mAadhaar app, offering users features such as improved privacy controls. This does not imply that the old app was unsafe; rather, the objective here is to further enhance security. The new app enables users to digitally verify their identity without having to share a physical photocopy of their Aadhaar card. This can significantly reduce the risk of data leaks and misuse.

Secure QR Verification: What are the key features of the new Aadhaar App?
QR-Based Aadhaar Sharing: Users will now be able to securely share their identity using a QR code, thereby reducing the need to provide photocopies.
Face Authentication Support: The new app includes a face verification feature, making Aadhaar access even more secure.

Offline Verification: Users will be able to perform Aadhaar verification even without an internet connection—a feature that will prove extremely useful in various situations.

Biometric Lock/Unlock: All users can now lock or unlock their Aadhaar biometrics directly from their smartphones, eliminating the need to visit a Common Service Center (Jan Seva Kendra) for this purpose.

Authentication History Tracking: Additionally, the new app allows users to track exactly when and where their Aadhaar was used. This ensures that any unauthorized attempts to tamper with their Aadhaar data can be detected and prevented.

Aadhaar Profile Step-by-Step Guide: How to migrate from mAadhaar to the new app? If you are also planning to switch to the new app, simply follow these steps:
**Download the New App:** First, visit the Google Play Store or Apple App Store to download the official Aadhaar app. Additionally, UIDAI has shared the official download links on its social media handles and website; you can download the application from there as well.

**Login Process:** Once the app is downloaded, open it and enter your registered mobile number (ensure it is active). Next, complete the OTP verification process using the OTP received on your number. In some instances, for security purposes, face authentication (face scan) may also be requested during the setup process.

**Create a Security PIN:** After logging in, the user will be prompted to create a strong PIN; set this for security purposes, or enable fingerprint or face unlock.

**Add Profile:** Now, enter your mobile number again and manually add your profile by verifying it via OTP.

**Family Profile (Multiple Profiles):** If the mobile numbers of other family members are also linked to your primary mobile number, you can add multiple profiles within the same app. This new app supports multiple profiles on a single device.

**Remove the Old App:** Once all your details appear correctly in the new mAadhaar app, and the app is functioning properly, you may safely uninstall (remove) the old mAadhaar app from your phone.
