Paperless Banking AI Kiosk: On Saturday, in Assam's capital, Guwahati, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa inaugurated India's first AI and digitally powered bank branch. Located on GS Road, this branch of Slice Small Finance Bank is based on a 'Phygital' (Physical + Digital) model. Its primary objective is to promote financial inclusion across the country and to open up new avenues of progress for the youth.

What is the 'Phygital' Banking Model?
This new banking model is envisioned as a hybrid blend of physical and digital services. In other words, customers can visit the bank branch in person while still availing themselves of digital functionalities. This AI-powered branch offers several advanced features, such as AI-based self-service kiosks, paperless cash deposits and withdrawals, seamless digital onboarding, an expedited account opening process, and intelligent digital banking assistance. This offers customers relief from long queues and excessive documentation requirements.

Direct Credit via UPI
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister announced that customers can now access credit directly through the UPI interface. This eliminates the need to submit a separate loan application. Through this facility, small shopkeepers, women entrepreneurs, and small business owners will be able to secure working capital within minutes, directly via their mobile phones.

Sarma stated that the Assam government aims to transform the state into a hub for technology and innovation-driven investment.
