There are concerts that entertain, and then there are concerts that pause time for a moment. Lucky Ali ’s Pune show on May 16 turned into the latter when the singer performed Tu Kaun Hai from Bhopal Express, dedicating it to the victims of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy . In a venue otherwise floating on nostalgia and romance, the moment landed like silence after a storm. For a few minutes, the crowd stopped singing and simply listened.
And perhaps that sincerity is exactly why nobody could stay upset with Ali for too long, despite the concert having been rescheduled twice earlier. The moment he walked onto the stage and opened with Anjani Raahon Mein, before apologising to fans with his trademark warmth, the bitterness dissolved almost instantly. How can one be angry with a person who bring so much innocence wherever he goes?
The evening unfolded like a beautifully lit fever dream. Produced by Socks n Shoes Media and Laughing Lion, the concert paired bright, aesthetically crafted visuals with floating smoke bubbles that created an almost snowy haze around the singer. Pune’s audience sang through every word of Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, O Sanam, Jaane Kya Dhoondta Hai, Hairat and several more classics, turning the concert into one giant chorus of memories.

The emotional weight of the evening also came with a quiet sense of uncertainty. After Ali recently announced during his Bengaluru concert that it would be his last performance in the city, Pune fans walked into the venue half-expecting a similar goodbye. But instead of a farewell, the singer left the crowd with hope. Thanking fans for standing by him despite the reschedules, Ali signed off warmly and said he hoped to return and see everyone again soon.
Even the city’s curfew seemed willing to bend for Ali. Allowed to play nearly 10-12 minutes beyond the 10 PM deadline, the singer closed the night with a crowd singalong of O Sanam before ending on the unexpected high of Ek Pal Ka Jeena . Even then, nobody really wanted to leave.
