Mumbai: Amid chatter around the recent Bhopal suicide case, where a 33-year-old woman was found dead at her home, Kangana Ranaut slammed Indian society for abandoning daughters after marriage.
Sharing a long note on her Instagram stories, the actor-turned-politician advised women to choose career and independence over marriage.
“So many tragic news about married young women comes up every day. Many of these young, educated ladies even beg their parents to help them out of their suffocating situations before tragedies strike them, but Indian society is notorious for abandoning daughters once they are married,” Kangana wrote.
“My advice to young women out there which no social media or fashion/dating/wedding/make up industry is telling you. Your career is more important than anyone else in your life. Think about marriage only after you are independent. Please you have to be your own hero. No one is coming to save you. What you do and what you are is more important than who you marry. Build a life that you want don’t listen to anyone,” she added.
Police investigating the Bhopal dowry death case have set up a six-member SIT to look into claims of dowry harassment levelled against the victim’s husband Samarth and her mother-in-law, retired judge Giribala Singh.
Katara Hills SHO Sunil Kumar Dubey said the woman’s family from Noida has alleged that her in-laws were responsible for her death.
Family members also revealed that she was in touch with them over the phone until around 10 pm on Tuesday, and had reportedly wanted to leave Bhopal and return home to Noida.
Kangana, who recently completed 20 years in the film industry, was last seen in ‘Emergency’, which she directed also.
Kangana is now set to make her international debut with the supernatural horror, ‘Blessed Be the Evil’ which is slated for release in 2027.
