In the advisory issued by the Ministry of AYUSH, people have been advised to adopt many important precautions. The ministry has said that keep drinking adequate amount of water throughout the day. It is most important to keep the body hydrated. It has been advised to avoid exposure to direct sunlight from 12 noon to 4 pm. If it is necessary to go out, cover your head and wear light colored cotton clothes. This helps in controlling body temperature. Apart from this, people have been advised to drink coconut water, lemon water, buttermilk and electrolyte beverages. Seasonal fruits like watermelon, cucumber and cantaloupe also help in cooling the body.
Guidelines for workers and players
The Ministry of AYUSH has also issued special guidelines for laborers engaged in construction work, delivery personnel and people working in open fields. Instead of working continuously for a long time, it has been advised to take rest in between. Players participating in sports competitions have also been instructed to drink enough water and keep their body cool. Organizers have been asked to make arrangements for medical aid and cold drinks if needed.
