Royal fans have issued a major complaint after Meghan Markle's wedding anniversary tribute to her husband, Prince Harry. The Duchess of Sussex marked her eighth wedding anniversary to her husband by posting a series of pictures and videos.

At 8am UK time on Tuesday morning, which was midnight in the US, Meghan shared 24 new photos from the ceremony and reception of her special day, taken by photographer Chris Allerton. It featured photos of the couple from the ceremony, along with more intimate photos from the reception at Windsor Castle The Duchess captioned both carousels with the message "Eight years ago today..." and the moon and sun emojis.

But fans were unimpressed that the tribute did not feature a recent photo with her husband.

One user wrote on Reddit: "So many pics and she had to get Elton in there. Seems to smack of desperation and a hankering for the past.

"Why not show a loving photo of them together now instead?"

Another one agreed, saying: "Exactly. The entire 'spread' just reminds me of desperation to recapture the magic of being loved and admired for having married a prince."

A third one blasted: "Clapping back against the lack of crowds with photos from almost a decade ago is...cringe."

A fourth one opined: "It feels like a weird selection of photos to celebrate an anniversary."

A fifth one wrote: "Oh this is super cringe. Their pictures, especially of dancing, were cringe to begin with, but after everything that's happened it's very cringe."

Other users loved the photo dump, with one fan writing on Instagram: "That was a beautiful service, happy anniversary you both."

Another one added: "What a great treat to see these. Happy Anniversary to too authentic and wonderful people."

A third one said: "Happy Anniversary M&H! Cheers to finding someone you adore and following your heart in light and love. Best wishes for many years to come!"

Meghan posted new videos and pictures with her husband from today, later in the day, on her Instagram stories.

The photos showed the Duke surprising her with an anniversary cake and a wooden sculpture of two penguins, a tribute to when they both dressed up as penguins for a party following their engagement.
