EPFO WhatsApp Update: The hassle of repeatedly logging into the website to check your PF balance or view your claim status may soon be a thing of the past, as the EPFO is set to introduce a new WhatsApp-based feature.
PF Balance Check: If you are a salaried employee, repeatedly opening the website or logging in to check your PF balance, claim status, or transaction history can feel like a bit of a chore. However, you will soon no longer have to do this, as the EPFO is launching a new feature that will deliver all your PF-related information directly to you via WhatsApp.
This initiative is expected to provide significant relief to salaried individuals, eliminating the need to repeatedly log in to the website or app just to check their PF balance or track their claim status. You will be able to access all the necessary information right on your mobile phone within a matter of seconds.
What Information Will Be Available on WhatsApp?
Through this new EPFO feature, employees will be able to access various essential details directly on WhatsApp, such as:
- PF balance details
- Records of the last 5 transactions
- Claim status
- Status of advance claims
- Other important account-related details
Additionally, if an employee's PF claim is currently pending or is in the process of being processed, they will receive updates regarding its status directly on WhatsApp.
How Will This Feature Work?
It is worth noting that the EPFO will soon release an official WhatsApp number. This number will be 'verified' with a green tick to ensure that users can easily identify and distinguish the authentic contact. As for how this feature will function:
First, the user will send a "Hello" message to the EPFO's WhatsApp number using the mobile number linked to their UAN (Universal Account Number).
- Subsequently, the system will verify the registered mobile number.
- The user will then be presented with various service options.
- Users will be able to select the specific information they require based on their needs.
Assistance from an AI Chatbot
This new feature will also incorporate an AI-based chatbot, which will operate 24/7. Through this chatbot, employees will be able to perform the following tasks:
- PF Transfer Information
- Profile Updates
- Status of Pending Claims
- Issues Related to Aadhaar or Bank Accounts
- Filing Complaints and Tracking Their Status
Availability in Local Languages
EPFO plans to launch this service in multiple languages to enable people to easily access information in their own local languages.
Important Precautions
EPFO has also issued a warning to the public:
- Use only the official WhatsApp number.
- Do not share your OTP or password with anyone.
- Do not disclose personal information related to your bank or PF accounts to any unknown person.
