Harry Kane is in no hurry to sign a new contract with Bayern Munich, even though the club’s management is eager to secure his long-term future, according to president Herbert Hainer. The England captain is thoroughly enjoying his time in Bavaria but has decided to wait until after the World Cup before finalising any extension at the Allianz Arena.
Kane remains composed about his Bayern future
The experienced striker has established himself as the linchpin of Bayern’s attack, sparking plenty of speculation over when he will officially agree to a new deal. However, president Hainer has clarified that the 32-year-old is under no obligation to complete contract talks before joining up with the England squad for the World Cup.
“There’s no doubt that we want to extend Harry Kane’s contract,” Hainer told Welt. “I also believe that Harry wants to continue with us. He said himself that he feels no pressure regarding whether the extension happens before or after the World Cup. He’s completely calm about it. What mattered most to him was to focus on this season and the objectives with FC Bayern. That shows what a remarkable professional he is.”
Financial considerations and Musiala’s impact
Although the general mood around negotiations is positive, discussions are expected to include significant financial aspects. Reports indicate that the England skipper is seeking a deal that mirrors his status as the team’s key figure, possibly aiming for salary parity with teammate Jamal Musiala. Kane’s negotiating position is particularly strong after a record-breaking season in which he exceeded expectations across the Bundesliga.
The former Tottenham Hotspur forward has settled comfortably into life in Munich, both professionally and personally. Despite recurring rumours in the English press linking him with a Premier League return, Kane seems focused on establishing a lasting legacy in Germany. With his family well-adjusted to life in Bavaria and major trophies now a regular part of his career, the forward is reportedly aiming for a long-term agreement that could keep him at Bayern until 2030.
Michael Olise not set for departure
Kane is not the only attacking star Bayern are determined to retain. Michael Olise has impressed since his arrival following a busy summer of transfers, and Hainer was quick to dismiss speculation about a potential move for the French winger.
“Absolutely, he has a contract until 2029,” Hainer confirmed when asked about Olise’s situation. “Michael has developed exceptionally well because he’s been given the platform here to prove himself within a top international side. We have an attacking unit capable of competing at the highest level globally, which benefits Michael too. Plus, he has the opportunity to challenge for every major title with us each year. I see no reason for him to look elsewhere.”
Chasing domestic glory and maintaining global standards
Vincent Kompany’s team now have their sights set on the DFB-Pokal final against Stuttgart. A win would secure the domestic double and cap off what has already been an outstanding season.
“Winning the double would undoubtedly be the highlight of our campaign,” Hainer stated. “After our women’s team successfully defended their title, the men should aim to do the same. We’re in the cup final for the first time since 2020 and are determined not to leave empty-handed. But overall, it has been a brilliant season. FC Bayern remains in top form and continues to set international standards.”
