Xiaomi 17 Max — Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has officially launched Xiaomi 17 Max, expanding the scope of its flagship series in the domestic market. This is the fifth model of this series. The company unveiled this handset during its May 2026 mega event. In the same event, the company also introduced new products in the automobile sector and wearables segment, which include Xiaomi YU7 GT Electric Vehicle, Xiaomi Band 10 Pro and Xiaomi Ear Clip TWS.

Powerful processor and 200-megapixel camera

In Xiaomi 17 Max, the company has given the same octa-core Snapdragon 8 series chipset, which powers the other premium models of this lineup. For photography enthusiasts, the phone has a Leica-tuned triple rear camera system. The main highlight of this setup is its 200-megapixel primary camera, which has the ability to capture excellent details even in low light. Apart from this, the company claims that this phone has the largest battery of the entire Xiaomi 17 series, which assures long backup.

Prices as per variants

In the Chinese market, this smartphone has been launched in four different RAM and storage configurations. Its starting price has been fixed at CNY 4,799 (approximately Rs 68,000) for the base model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

  • 12GB RAM + 256GB storage (Base variant): CNY 4,799 (roughly Rs. 68,000)
  • 16GB RAM + 256GB storage: CNY 5,099 (approximately Rs 72,000)
  • 12GB RAM + 512GB storage: CNY 5,399 (roughly Rs. 76,000)
  • 16GB RAM + 512GB storage (top variant): CNY 5,799 (roughly Rs. 82,000)

Its impact on global and Indian market

At present the company has introduced this handset only in China. There is no official statement from Xiaomi India yet regarding its availability and launch timeline in the Indian market and other global markets. Tech experts believe that at this price point in the Indian market, this phone will directly challenge the premium devices of OnePlus and Samsung. Its global rollout is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
