Agni-1 Missile Successful Launch: India has successfully tested the indigenous Agni-1 ballistic missile. Agni-1 Short Range Ballistic Missile was successfully tested from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) located at Chandipur, Odisha. Capable of carrying both nuclear and conventional warheads, this missile can attack up to 700-1200 km. The whole of Pakistan comes under its jurisdiction. This test is a befitting reply to Pakistan, because it has tested Fatah missiles in the last few days.
Indian Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) successfully test-fired ‘Agni-1’ ballistic missile from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha. The test was conducted from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at exactly 6:30 pm.
The ministry said in a statement, “With this successful test, India has once again demonstrated its capability to engage multiple strategic targets using a single missile system. This missile has been developed by DRDO laboratories in collaboration with industries across the country. The test was witnessed by senior DRDO scientists and Indian Army personnel. During the test, the missile completed its intended path and hit the target accurately. All operational and technical characteristics of the missile were checked and found to be in perfect order.” This successful test has once again confirmed India’s strategic preparedness and reliability of Agni-1 missile.
What is Agni-1 missile?
This missile is an important part of India’s Credible Minimum Deterrence Policy. It was inducted into the Indian Army in 2004. The biggest feature of Agni-1 is that it can be easily launched from the road. This means that it can be fired rapidly from any location if needed. Being a solid fuel, it takes less time to launch.
