Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has set such a new record in the matter of electricity supply that even big states are surprised. Amidst the harsh and scorching heat, when the demand for electricity is skyrocketing, UP has left even the industrial state Maharashtra far behind in terms of supplying electricity during peak demand. Now Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the number one state providing maximum electricity in the country at the time of huge demand.
If we look at the government data, on May 24, Uttar Pradesh met the huge peak demand of 31,824 MW very successfully and without any interruption. At the same time, during the same period, a big state like Maharashtra could supply only 29,463 MW of electricity. This is the largest and record breaking power supply ever in the entire history of Uttar Pradesh. Not only this, it has also become a new national record for the largest electricity supply made by any state in the country in a single day.
Previous record also destroyed, big success of Yogi government
Earlier, the highest demand for electricity in Uttar Pradesh was recorded last year on June 11, 2025, which was 31,486 MW. Despite the scorching and scorching heat of this year, the Yogi government has made this big achievement by ensuring continuous power supply in the entire state without any tripping or major fault.
Electricity department officials said that at exactly 10:29 pm on May 24, a historic demand of 31,824 MW was recorded in the state, which the department easily fulfilled. The government is now intensifying its efforts to provide uninterrupted, better quality electricity to every household, remote villages and big cities of the state.
Be it day or night, the speed of lightning does not stop.
This spectacular supply of electricity in Uttar Pradesh was not just for a few hours, but it continued throughout the night and the next day. According to the data, 29,933 MW electricity was provided in the state at 1 am on the intervening night of May 24 and 25 and 30,569 MW electricity was provided at 3 am. Similarly, the next day i.e. on May 25, 29,573 MW electricity was supplied at 5 am and 27,392 MW electricity was supplied at 10 am. Even at 2 pm, when the heat is at its peak in the afternoon, the state easily handled the huge demand of 29,616 MW.
Giving information about this, UPPCL Director (Distribution) Gyanendra Dhar Dwivedi said that on Sunday, power supply continued for 24 hours without any cut in all the urban areas, tehsils, nagar panchayats, metros, divisional headquarters and big industrial areas of the state. While sharing another big thing, he said that in Bundelkhand area which is always facing power crisis, power cut was limited to just 22 minutes, which is a big change in itself.
Villages got electricity more than the quota, people relieved
The director further said that this time electricity has been provided in rural areas for an average of 22 to 22.5 hours. This figure is much more than the 18-hour roster set by the government. Due to this better electricity system, farmers, small and big traders, industries and the general public have got a huge relief amid this scorching heat.
Regarding this entire mission, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) and Chairman of UP Power Corporation, Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal said that following the strict instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, all the officers and employees of the department are currently working on a war footing, so that there is no hindrance in getting electricity to the public.
At the same time, the state’s Energy Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma expressed happiness and said that Uttar Pradesh has now become the top state in providing maximum electricity in the entire country. He also acknowledged that there may be local problems at some places due to technical faults, natural causes or human error, but the electricity department employees are working diligently round the clock to fix these problems immediately. The Energy Minister also made an emotional appeal to the people of the state to support and encourage the electricity workers working day and night in this scorching heat and challenging conditions.
