The capital Delhi is currently facing the brunt of intense heat and heatwave. The temperature on the roads has started reaching 48 to 50 degrees. In such circumstances, the duty was no less than a challenge for the soldiers who managed the traffic by standing in the sun for hours. Due to the continuous heat, problems like heat stroke, dehydration and fatigue were increasing rapidly.

In view of this problem, the Traffic Police Department has started the trial of special “AC Helmet” for its soldiers. These helmets have been designed to provide relief from the heat and are currently being tested in the New Delhi area.

How does this smart helmet work?

Small cooling fans and air vents have been installed in these high-tech helmets, which run on batteries. There is a continuous flow of cold air inside the helmet, due to which the temperature of the head and neck remains balanced. These can be easily charged and can be used during long periods of duty. Apart from this, portable fans and ORS packets are also being given to the soldiers, so that they can protect themselves from heat problems.

Soldiers told how much benefit they got

Many traffic policemen on duty told that earlier afternoon duty was the most difficult. Standing in the hot sun for a long time would make the head feel heavy and cause dizziness. But after wearing the new AC helmet, I am feeling a lot of relief.

One jawan said that now his head remains cool and doing duty for several hours continuously seems easier than before. He also expressed gratitude to his senior officers for this initiative.

The scheme can be implemented in the entire city

According to sources, if the trial is successful then in the coming time these smart helmets can be made available to all the traffic policemen of Delhi. In view of the increasing impact of heat, this initiative is being considered a big step for the safety and health of police personnel. Experts believe that if this experiment is successful, then in future police of other states of the country may also consider adopting such technology.
