Everton are reportedly poised to receive a windfall of around £12 million from the sale of a player long pursued by Liverpool.
According to The Athletic, the Toffees have a 15% sell-on clause entitling them to a share of any profit made from the transfer of their former player, which could amount to approximately £12 million.
Former Everton winger Anthony Gordon, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool for some time, currently carries an £80 million price tag. Such a move would secure Everton a substantial sum should the transfer materialise.
Under David Moyes, Everton have enjoyed a steadier campaign this season, sitting just one point shy of matching their 2024/25 Premier League points total with four fixtures remaining.
Everton’s upcoming Hill Dickinson Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock will include an advanced Premium Experience zone. These packages, set to launch for the 2025/26 season, will offer premium pitch views and smooth access between seating areas and lounges, aligning with the club’s ‘Nothing but the best’ ethos and promising a high-end matchday experience.
Gordon, who departed Everton in January 2023, is valued at £80 million and has drawn interest from Bayern Munich and Chelsea.
The English attacker, who may have already played his final game for Newcastle United, joined the Magpies for around £40 million. This season, he has contributed 17 goals in 46 appearances across all competitions.
Though he has managed only six Premier League goals this term, the 25-year-old has shone in the UEFA Champions League, scoring 10 goals and providing two assists in 12 outings on the European stage.
Reports from The Athletic indicate that Newcastle are increasingly open to selling Gordon this summer, even though the player has not expressed a public desire to depart.
The England international has caught the eye of Bundesliga title-holders Bayern Munich, though The Times reports that there remains a gap in valuation, with Vincent Kompany’s side prepared to pay around £55 million.
Chelsea are also believed to be interested, as the London club look to add another forward with top-flight experience and the stamina to handle an intense match schedule.
While Liverpool had previously shown strong interest in Gordon, the Merseyside club are unlikely to reignite that pursuit despite Mohamed Salah’s departure leaving a vacancy in their attacking ranks ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Newcastle’s decision to consider selling Gordon aligns with their internal strategy of offloading players once they reach peak market value and suitable replacements are available.
Ranked No. 17 in FourFourTwo’s list of the world’s best left wingers, Gordon is currently sidelined with a hip injury, leaving his future at St. James’ Park uncertain.
Newcastle, who sit 14th in the Premier League table, will host sixth-placed Brighton on Saturday at St. James’ Park as they continue their domestic campaign.
