New Delhi. The life of Parveen Babi, counted among the most glamorous and celebrated actresses of Hindi cinema, was as bright on screen as it was full of pain and loneliness in real life. Now actress Pooja Bhatt has made some such revelations about Parveen Babi which have once again reminded her of that painful period of Bollywood.
Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter and actress Pooja Bhatt, in a recent interview, while remembering the last days of Parveen Babi, said that she was very mentally disturbed. Pooja told that she still remembers the time when Parveen Babi started fearing that Amitabh Bachchan wanted to kill her.
Pooja Bhatt said in an interview to journalist Vicky Lalwani that when Parveen Babi had returned from abroad, she was sitting in the office of Stardust magazine, continuously using the Xerox machine and giving interviews against Amitabh Bachchan. According to Pooja, Parveen Babi felt that Amitabh Bachchan still wanted to kill her.
Not only this, Pooja also revealed that Parveen Babi was very scared about food and drinks. He suspected that people from the film industry were mixing poison in his food. This was the reason why she only ate eggs because she considered them safe.
Although Pooja Bhatt also clearly said that she is not a doctor and hence cannot claim any illness, but it was certain that Parveen Babi was not mentally well. Later investigation revealed that she was suffering from mental illness like schizophrenia.
Parveen Babi and Amitabh Bachchan had worked together in many superhit films, including films like Deewar, Amar Akbar Anthony, Kala Patthar Shaan and Namak Halal. The onscreen pairing of both was very much liked by the audience. At one time there were rumors of their affair but both the artists never accepted these news.
In the 1980s, Parveen Babi had also filed a police complaint against Amitabh Bachchan. He had alleged that Amitabh Bachchan is part of an international gang and an attempt has been made to kidnap him and implant a microchip in his ear. However, during the investigation no evidence was found against Amitabh Bachchan.
Pooja Bhatt, remembering the personality of Parveen Babi, said that she was a very beautiful and kind-hearted person. Pooja told that when her father Mahesh Bhatt used to take her to Parveen Babi’s house, she would always meet him lovingly and give him gifts. Even today Pooja could not forget the perfume that Parveen Babi had given her.
Parveen Babi died in January 2005. She was only 50 years old. His death shocked the entire film industry. It is said that his body was lying unclaimed in the mortuary of Cooper Hospital, Mumbai for several days. Later Mahesh Bhatt came forward and took charge of the last rites.
