Petrol-Diesel Prices on May 30: Petrol and diesel prices continue to fluctuate due to the conflict between Iran and the US and rising tensions around the Strait of Hormuz.

Last Wednesday, the government stated that the country possesses an ample supply of petrol and diesel to meet domestic demand. The government emphasized that there is no shortage in supply, but simultaneously issued a warning against the industrial use of subsidized retail fuel.

In a statement, the Oil Ministry noted that India—the world's fourth-largest refining hub with an annual capacity of 258.1 million tonnes across 22 refineries—produced sufficient fuel in FY26 to meet a domestic consumption of 243.2 million tonnes, while also exporting 61.5 million tonnes of petroleum products.

Petrol-Diesel Prices Today

Today, May 30, oil marketing companies have kept petrol and diesel prices unchanged. Following a steep hike of ₹2.61–₹2.71 per liter earlier this week on Monday (May 25), fuel prices continue to hover at historic highs. Since May 15, petrol and diesel prices have collectively risen by approximately ₹7.50 per liter.

Following this recent adjustment, petrol prices in Delhi have crossed the ₹100 mark. As of May 29, the price of petrol in New Delhi stands at ₹102.12 per liter, while the price of diesel is ₹95.20 per liter. Similar increases have been observed in other metropolitan cities such as Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai, further adding to the burden on consumers and tour operators. In Kolkata, the price of petrol stands at ₹113.51 per liter. In Mumbai, the price of petrol is now ₹111.21 per liter.
