Mitsubishi SUVs: Japanese automobile manufacturer Mitsubishi Motors has officially confirmed the return of its iconic SUV brands Pajero and Montero. Even though the company has stopped selling its cars in the Indian market, Pajero is still very popular in the second-hand market. Its strength, excellent off-road capability and successful history in the Dakar Rally have earned it a special place among SUV lovers.
Pajero will now become a complete SUV brand
Mitsubishi has shared a teaser on its official social media platforms hinting that the Pajero and Montero are going to start a new chapter. According to the company, Pajero will no longer be just a single model, but will be developed as a complete SUV series with multiple models.
Work continues on two new SUVs
The company’s recent roadmap suggests that at least two new Pajero-based SUVs are in the works. One of these models will be based on a rugged ladder-frame platform designed for tough off-road conditions. In international markets the Montero name may be used instead of Pajero.
Powerful design and modern technology
According to the teaser image, the design of the new Pajero will be quite boxy and muscular. In this, connected LED DRL, split lighting signature and Mitsubishi logo can be seen in the middle. The large size and traditional SUV proportions will give it a strong road presence.
Petrol, hybrid and diesel options possible
According to reports, Mitsubishi may offer petrol, petrol-hybrid and diesel powertrain options in the new Pajero/Montero range. The company aims to launch 13 new models between FY26 to FY31. The list includes new SUVs, pickup trucks, electric vehicles (BEV) and off-road focused models.
The return of the new Pajero and Montero is considered an important step for Mitsubishi, which can further strengthen the company’s presence in the global SUV market.
