New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted a heavy spell of rain in all the districts of Kerala for the next three days and also issued weather warnings in various districts. The district of Thiruvananthapuram has been placed under orange alert as it may receive very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gales.

According to weather department officials, the condition has now started favouring active monsoons, and persistent rains will be witnessed in various parts of the state. Many districts will experience heavy rains on specific days, and the concerned departments are keeping an eye on the developing conditions.

Date                   (Districts under yellow alert)
01/06/2026 – Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad
02/06/2026 – Ernakulam, Idukki, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod
03/06/2026 – Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur

The IMD has issued a stern warning about strong winds blowing in the coastal areas of Kerala and Lakshadweep. The fishing community has been advised not to go out to the seas because of the rough weather conditions and high waves that will persist for several days to come.

Furthermore, there are several cyclonic circulations in the atmosphere along with the active troughs that will lead to higher chances of rainfall and local flooding, waterlogging, and landslides in some areas.

Residents, particularly those who live in low-lying areas, near the sea and hills, have been advised to stay cautious against the developing weather scenario.

The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has urged the public to follow protocols, as residents in areas prone to landslides, mudslides, and flash floods must relocate themselves to a safer place.

The strong winds are likely to uproot trees and electric posts, and, in response, residents are advised to move to safer buildings.
