Tezzbuzz Desk- The impact of the rise in crude oil prices in the international market and increasing geopolitical tension in the Middle East is now clearly visible on the domestic market as well. Amid pressure on fuel and LPG supply, the prices of commercial LPG cylinders have been increased once again in the beginning of June. With this, the price of 19 kg commercial gas cylinder has been increased for the seventh consecutive time.
According to the new rates released by oil marketing companies, the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by Rs 42 in the capital Delhi. After this its new price has become Rs 3,113.50 per cylinder. Whereas in Kolkata, the price of cylinder of this category has increased by Rs 53.50 to Rs 3,255.50.
According to experts, a record increase has been recorded in the prices of commercial gas cylinders during the last six months. During this period in Delhi, the price of a 19 kg cylinder has increased by about Rs 1,533, which is equivalent to an increase of about 97 percent. The continuously rising prices are expected to have a direct impact on hotels, restaurants, dhabas and small businesses.
However, the news of relief for domestic consumers is that there has been no change in the prices of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinders this time. The price of domestic gas cylinder in Delhi remains stable at Rs 913. Whereas in Kolkata it is available at Rs 939, in Mumbai at Rs 912.50 and in Chennai at Rs 928.50 per cylinder.
The last revision in domestic gas cylinder prices was made in the month of March, when it was increased by Rs 60 per cylinder. There has been no change in prices since then.
On the other hand, the prices of small 5 kg LPG cylinders, commonly called ‘Chhotu cylinders’, have also been increased. According to the new rates, its price in Delhi has increased by Rs 11 to Rs 821.50. The revised rates have become effective from June 1.
Experts believe that if the global energy supply crisis and geopolitical tensions continue, fuel and LPG prices may remain under pressure in the coming months. However, for domestic consumers, the stability of prices at present is considered a big relief.
