Sawan 2026 Start Date and End Date: The month of Sawan, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is considered very sacred in Hindu religion. Shiva devotees wait for this holy month throughout the year, because it is believed that Bholenath gets pleased very quickly by the worship done in Sawan. Special virtuous results are obtained by doing Shiva puja, Jalabhishek and Monday fast throughout this month. In the year 2026, Saavan is starting from 30th July and during this period there will be a total of 4 Saavan Mondays, for which the devotees wait for the whole year. When will Sawan 2026 start?
Considered most auspicious for worshiping Mahadev Sawan Shiva devotees wait for the month every year. According to Drik Panchang, the month of Sawan in the year 2026 will start from 30th July 2026. Shravan month will be considered as the beginning from this day. Whereas Sawan will end with Shravan Purnima on 28 August 2026. Throughout the month, devotees worship Lord Bholenath by doing special puja and Rudrabhishek in Shiva temples.
Why does the importance of Shiva worship increase in Sawan?
In religious texts, the month of Sawan has been described as the favorite month of Lord Shiva. It is believed that worshiping Lord Shiva during this time brings his special blessings. Unmarried young men and women keep fast on Sawan Monday to wish for a good life partner, while married women worship Lord Shiva for the happiness, prosperity of the family and long life of their husband.
Jalabhishek, Dugdhabhishek, offering Belpatra and chanting Mahamrityunjaya Mantra are considered especially fruitful in Sawan. Monday of Sawan has its own significance. It is believed that the fasting and worship done on these days provides many times more results. In the year 2026, devotees will get the blessings of a total of 4 Sawan Mondays.

How to worship Lord Shiva at home?
In the month of Sawan, Lord Shiva can be worshiped at home as per the rituals. For this, take bath in the morning, wear clean clothes and clean the place of worship. After this, anoint Shivling with Ganga water, water, milk, curd and honey. Offer Belpatra, Dhatura, Hemp, white flowers and fruits to Lord Shiva. During the puja, chant Om Namah Shivay mantra and recite Shiva Chalisa. At last, perform Aarti and pray to God for happiness, peace and prosperity.
Take special care of these things in Saavan
It is advisable to adopt a virtuous lifestyle in the month of Sawan. During this period one should stay away from vindictive food, intoxication and negative thoughts. Many devotees keep fast for the whole month, while some people fast only on Mondays. There is a religious belief that by worshiping Shiva done with devotion and devotion, Lord Bholenath gets pleased quickly and fulfills all the wishes of the devotees.
