The Qatar national football team has officially announced the list of players who will represent the nation in the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The announcement was made through the official Qatar National Team Instagram account on Monday, 1 June 2026.
Head coach Julen Lopetegui has selected 26 players, combining seasoned veterans with key members of Qatar’s golden generation.
Two names drawing the most attention are Akram Afif and Almoez Ali, who are expected to spearhead Qatar’s attacking line at the 2026 World Cup.
Afif is known as the team’s main creative force, while Almoez Ali remains their most reliable goal scorer.
In addition, Qatar continues to rely on several senior figures such as Hassan Al-Haydos, Karim Boudiaf, and Boualem Khoukhi, who play crucial roles in maintaining the team’s balance.
In defence and midfield, the team will count on players like Pedro Miguel, Sultan Al-Brake, Assim Madibo, and Abdulaziz Hatem.
For the goalkeeper position, the three chosen names are Meshaal Barsham, Salah Zakaria, and Mahmoud Abunada.
The Qatar squad also features several naturalised players across all positions.
Among the goalkeepers, Meshaal Barsham from Al Sadd, who was born in Khartoum, Sudan, makes the cut.
In defence, the naturalised players include Issa Laye (Senegal), Lucas Mendes (Brazil), Pedro Miguel (Portugal), and Boualem Khoukhi (Algeria).
The midfield features naturalised players such as Assim Madibo (Sudan), Ahmed Fathy (Egypt), and Karim Boudiaf (France).
In attack, head coach Julen Lopetegui has selected Yusuf Abdurisag (Somalia), Mohammed Muntari (Ghana), and Edmilson (Belgium) among his options.
Qatar has been drawn into Group B of the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Switzerland.
