Michael Carrick is reportedly preparing to strengthen his midfield options ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Manchester United have been given the opportunity to secure the signing of Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoume, as the club continues its efforts to rebuild the midfield at Old Trafford.

Following Casemiro’s departure at the end of the season, the Red Devils are actively searching for a replacement to fill the void left by the Brazilian star. A number of players have been linked with the club, including Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United, Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, and Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace.

According to reports, Atalanta midfielder Ederson is expected to be the first new arrival, with Sky Sports indicating that negotiations between Manchester United and the Italian club are now nearing completion. The Premier League side are set to pay a guaranteed £35 million, along with an additional £3 million in potential add-ons. A full agreement is anticipated to be finalised soon.

Meanwhile, Spanish media suggests that United may also move for Agoume, who could be available for €25 million (£21.5 million). Sevilla are reportedly open to selling the player as they need to generate funds to balance their accounts before the June 30 deadline.

The same reports further claim that Sevilla’s management have officially offered Agoume to Manchester United, though they have also made the English club aware that other teams are showing interest in the midfielder.

Speaking about the situation, Agoume said, “I’m calm and 100% focused here in Porto. My agent obviously handles all those matters, and I’m not thinking about that right now ... honestly, I’m not thinking about that at the moment.”
