Ayden Heaven leads Manchester United squad in key statistic

Manchester United defender Ayden Heaven has emerged as the top performer among his teammates in a notable statistical category.

Heaven delivered an impressive 2025/26 campaign with United, playing a crucial role in helping the team secure a third-place finish in the Premier League and return to the UEFA Champions League after a two-year absence.

United’s season began inconsistently, but things improved dramatically after Michael Carrick replaced the dismissed Ruben Amorim as manager.

Under Carrick’s leadership, the team went on an excellent run, which earned him the job on a permanent basis. During this period, Heaven featured in six matches, starting three consecutive games in April against Chelsea, Brentford, and Liverpool.

Called into action amid a defensive injury crisis, Heaven slotted into the backline with composure and delivered standout performances that drew significant praise. In total, he made 17 appearances across all competitions during the season.

This marks a major step forward in his development, particularly given that he joined United from Arsenal in January of the previous year with minimal senior-level experience.

Football analyst Statman Dave revealed that Heaven topped all United players in one standout metric.

According to Statman Dave, “Ayden Heaven was the only Manchester United player to win 70% or more of their ground duels in the Premier League last season.”

He added, “A huge player for the present and the future.”

Looking ahead, Heaven is expected to take on more responsibility within the squad. Alongside Leny Yoro, he could form a long-term central defensive partnership for United in the coming years.

Signed for just £1 million, Heaven already appears to be a remarkable bargain and could eventually be remembered as one of the club’s smartest transfer moves.

For now, the young defender will take a well-earned break before rejoining the team for pre-season preparations at Manchester United.
