New Delhi: The ongoing controversy regarding Farhan Akhtar’s much-awaited film Don 3 now seems to be taking a legal turn. According to media reports, actor Ranveer Singh has sent a legal notice against the Non-Cooperation Directive (NCD) issued by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). This development has given rise to a new discussion in the film industry.

It is being told that after this step of Ranveer Singh, FWICE has also become active. The federation has decided to organize a press conference in Mumbai to discuss the matter and present its stand.

FWICE received legal notice

According to media reports, FWICE Chief Advisor Ashok Pandit has confirmed that the federation has received a legal notice from Ranveer Singh. He told that the organization will hold a press conference to discuss this entire matter.

The controversy to Don 3 has attracted the attention of the film industry for some time now and now after the legal action, the matter seems to be becoming more serious.

Why was the non-cooperation directive issued?

In May 2026, FWICE had issued non-cooperation instructions against Ranveer Singh. The federation’s move was reportedly taken in protest against the actor’s last-minute walkout from the Don 3 project.

This action was initiated after a complaint sent by the Indian Film and Television Directors Association (IFTDA). It was told that this complaint was lodged by Farhan Akhtar on 11 April 2026, after which the matter was sent to FWICE for further action.

What did FWICE say in the statement?

In a press release shared by ANI, the federation had said that it has taken the complaint seriously and has decided to take action after reviewing the matter.

The statement said, "In view of the conduct displayed towards the Federation and the stakeholders associated with the project, the FWICE office has resolved to issue Non-Cooperation Direction (NCD) against Shri Ranveer Singh."

Reply came from Ranveer Singh

After the controversy escalated, a reaction also came from Ranveer Singh’s side. The actor’s spokesperson clarified that Ranveer has maintained restraint in the entire matter and has avoided getting involved in public debates.

The spokesperson said, "Ranveer Singh has great respect for the film industry and everyone associated with the Don franchise. During the recent developments to Don 3, he deliberately maintained silence as he believes that professional discussions and personal relationships should be handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect. Although many things and speculations have come to light over time, Ranveer has never considered it necessary to respond publicly or contribute to the speculations. His entire focus is on his work and upcoming projects. He has the deepest respect and goodwill for everyone involved and wishes the franchise continued success. It has always been his conscious decision to maintain restraint and decency in such moments, and he will continue to maintain this stance."
