India A vs Afghanistan A 2026 Tri-Series 2nd ODI: When the India ‘A’ team, captained by Tilak Verma, faces the young Afghanistan ‘A’ team in the second ODI of the Tri-Series on Thursday, it will be eyeing to maintain its winning streak. In this match to be held at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla, India will enter the match with the confidence of the thrilling 8-run win in the last match. In this match, once again all eyes will be on the young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who after creating a stir in IPL 2026, could not do anything special with the bat in the first match of the series.
Vaibhav could not do anything special.
Suryavanshi, who won the ‘Orange Cap’ of IPL 2026 at the age of just 15, scored 776 runs at a stormy strike-rate of 237.3 while playing for Rajasthan Royals. However, against host Sri Lanka ‘A’ on Tuesday, he started in the same style by hitting three fours in the very first over, but he became the victim of Sri Lankan fast bowler Mohammad Shiraz after scoring 14 runs in 12 balls.
Prabhsimran Singh was also a flop
His opening partner and Punjab Kings batsman Prabhsimran Singh also flopped in the first ODI, scoring only 2 runs in 11 balls. Full credit goes to Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad for helping India reach a respectable score in that match and win. Gaikwad batted intelligently and scored the 21st century of his List-A career (101 runs in 114 balls).
Captain Tilak Verma took charge of the innings after the first three wickets fell quickly, but the Mumbai Indians batsman seemed to be struggling a bit compared to Gaikwad. Tilak did score a half-century, but the team will hope that he returns to his old form in the next matches.
Will Nishant Sindhu get a chance?
It will be interesting to see whether India ‘A’ gives Gujarat Titans all-rounder Nishant Sindhu a chance in the playing-11 to further strengthen its batting and bowling. The team will also expect better performance from its main spinners, because in the last match, all-rounder Ayush Badoni had to take charge to stop Sri Lanka after a fast start.
On the other hand, Afghanistan ‘A’ team, captained by Imran Mir, is going to start its campaign against India in this tri-series. The Afghan team has some excellent wicketkeeper-batsmen in the form of Noor Rahman and Mohammad Ishaq, while the bowling will be in the hands of Faridoon Dawoodzai and Zahir Khan Paktin.
Predicted Playing 11 of both the teams
India A: Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Prabhsimran Singh (wk), Priyansh Arya, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tilak Verma (c), Anukul Roy, Ayush Badoni, Arshad Khan, Vipraj Nigam/Nishant Sindhu, Suyansh Shedge, Anshul Kamboj.
