UP Teacher Recruitment: There is a major update for young aspirants preparing to become government teachers in Uttar Pradesh. Recruitment for 60,000 teachers is set to take place in the state. The UP Basic Education Department is working on a plan to fill these 60,000 teaching positions. It is anticipated that the recruitment notification will be issued soon, followed by the commencement of the application process. There is also a strong possibility that the recruitment examination will be conducted this year. The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has initiated preparations for this recruitment drive. For the first time, the UPESSC will conduct the recruitment of teachers for the Basic Education Department.
Let us look at the distribution of these vacancies across the UP Basic Education Department, the preparations underway, and the timeline since the last recruitment drive was held.
**Maximum Recruitment in Rural Areas**
The UP Basic Education Department is set to recruit 60,000 teachers. These appointments are made across urban and rural cadres, as the department maintains distinct cadres for these areas. Consequently, recruitment will be conducted for separate posts in urban and rural regions, with the highest number of vacancies being filled in rural areas.
More than 48,000 teacher positions are to be filled in rural areas, while 11,500 positions are designated for urban areas. This marks the first time the UPESSC will conduct this recruitment; previously, the task was handled by the Uttar Pradesh Examination Regulatory Authority (PNP).
**UPESSC Begins Preparations**
The UPESSC has commenced preparations for the recruitment of 60,000 teachers for the UP Basic Education Department. As part of this process, the commission has operationalized the e-requisition portal. While details regarding vacant posts in urban areas have already been received by the UPESSC offline, the department is currently preparing to submit information regarding teacher vacancies in rural schools online via the portal. The relevant recruitment rules are also being updated for this purpose. Once this process is complete, the proposal will be sent to the government for approval. A notification will be issued immediately upon receiving approval.
**Teacher recruitment for rural cadre schools took place in 2018**
Teacher recruitment for rural cadre schools under the UP Basic Education Department was conducted in 2018. In contrast, teacher recruitment for urban cadre schools has not been held for a long time. Consequently, a large number of applications are expected for this recruitment drive.
