A very disturbing and big news is coming out from the Gulf of Oman. Three Indian sailors have died tragically during a heavy military operation by the US Navy. After this incident, India’s anger has reached the seventh heaven. The aggressive and sharp tone with which New Delhi has cornered Washington has created a new uneasiness and tension in the strong diplomatic relations between India and America.

India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has taken this matter very seriously. While on a visit to Finland, he called US Secretary of State Marco Rubio directly and registered his protest in very strong words. Jaishankar clearly said that such deadly military action against commercial ships cannot be justified at any cost. This call of the Foreign Minister is a direct indication that India is in no mood to give any relaxation to America on the issue of security of its citizens.

India’s patience broken, American ambassador summoned

The seriousness of this entire incident can be gauged from the fact that the patience of the Government of India has now completely broken. India has expressed its strong displeasure by calling US Acting Ambassador Jason Meeks present in New Delhi to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for the second consecutive time. Generally India avoids using strong words like “summon” in diplomatic language to summon foreign diplomats, but this time the matter had gone above water.

The Ministry of External Affairs, in its official statement, took a very strong stand and said that the continuous attacks by US naval forces on civilian ships carrying innocent Indian sailors are completely unacceptable. The ministry said the attacks resulted in the “tragic and avoidable” deaths of three Indians, which cannot be ignored at all.

Two ships were targeted in two days

Actually, this entire controversy started on Wednesday when American security forces attacked a big ship named ‘MT Settebello’. There were a total of 24 Indian sailors on board this ship, out of which 21 were rescued safely, but three Indian sailors went missing, who were later confirmed dead.

The matter had not even calmed down when the very next day, American forces fired dangerous Hellfire missiles targeting the engine room of another Guinea Bissau flagged tanker ‘MT Jalveer’ near the Oman coast. The fortunate thing was that all the 20 Indian sailors present on this ship were taken out safely in time. But these incidents targeting Indians within two consecutive days have shaken the Indian government to its core. The Foreign Ministry has warned America that such attacks will completely jeopardize the security and stability of international maritime trade.

Iran retaliates on Trump’s allegations, new diplomatic drama begins

This very serious dispute took a new turn when US President Donald Trump tried to blame this entire incident on Iran. Trump claimed on social media that Iran is carrying out drone attacks on Indian ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, which is completely false. However, Iran has completely rejected Trump’s allegations and termed them as “completely baseless”.

The Iranian Embassy in India hit back at America, saying that Washington actually wants to divert the attention of the whole world from the attacks on three Indian ships and the death of three innocent Indians. Iran clearly alleged that when the US Army has targeted Indian ships within a week, then why is the blame being put on Tehran? Let us tell you that this statement of Trump has come at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Donald Trump are expected to meet during the G-7 summit to be held in France.

Innocent Indian sailors are burning in the fire of war

If we go to the root of this entire crisis, then this tension is the result of the terrible war, which started after the attacks on Iran by America and Israel on February 28 this year. Since then, there is a huge military blockade around the Strait of Hormuz and tension is at its peak. Indian sailors, considered the backbone of the entire world’s maritime trade, are now becoming direct victims of this war between global superpowers.

At least 13 Indian sailors have lost their lives at sea since the beginning of this war, while one Indian sailor is still missing. This is not just a statistic, but a painful story of those families whose livelihood depended on the sea and who suddenly lost their lives in the fire of this war.

Big danger looms on the world’s most important sea route

The Strait of Hormuz is considered the main vein of the world’s energy supply, because about 20 percent of the world’s crude oil and gas passes through this narrow passage. Gulf countries like Qatar, UAE and Kuwait are completely dependent on this route for their economy. Due to the increasing military tension here, there has been a huge rise in the prices of oil and LPG all over the world, due to which the supply of LPG in many countries including India is being adversely affected.

India is currently facing a dual and extremely complex challenge. On one hand, it has to save the lives of its citizens at sea at all costs, and on the other hand, it has to maintain the balance of its relations with a very close and strategic friend like America. But after the death of three Indians, New Delhi has given a clear message to America that when it comes to the security of the country’s citizens and national interest, India is not going to bow down before any superpower. It remains to be seen how seriously America takes this strong objection of India.
