A domestic worker was tragically killed on Thursday at the residence of a doctor located in the upscale area of Mount Kailash, South Delhi. The incident occurred just an hour after she arrived for her daily chores, as her employer allegedly accused her of bringing "bad energy" and attacked her with a bat and a knife. According to police reports, Dr. Manish Gupta, a 50-year-old dermatologist, fatally assaulted his domestic helper, 45-year-old Meena Halder, who had been working in the building for over a decade. The attack began with a blow from a cricket bat, followed by multiple stabbings with a sharp object.

Investigators revealed that the murder took place while Gupta's teenage son was present in the apartment, and his wife had already left for work. At approximately 11:36 AM, a neighbor discovered Halder lying in a pool of blood and promptly alerted the authorities. Reports indicate that police apprehended Gupta at the scene, where he was found sitting near the body. Authorities claim that the doctor confessed to the crime, citing longstanding resentment towards the domestic worker. However, they are also looking into claims from the family that Gupta had been undergoing treatment for mental health issues for the past ten years.

At 10:15 AM, Dr. Manish Gupta's wife, Tina Gupta, left for work. According to police, both Gupta and their teenage son remained in their third-floor apartment in Mount Kailash.

Meena Halder, who had been employed by the Gupta family for over ten years, arrived at the home around 10:30-10:45 AM. Police reported that she began washing clothes and then went to the common terrace to hang them out to dry.

Before 11:15 AM, Gupta followed Halder to the terrace. Investigators noted that he was dissatisfied with her work and wanted to dismiss her, but his family opposed this decision.

Between 11:15 and 11:30 AM, police allege that Gupta struck Halder on the head with a cricket bat, causing her to fall. He then reportedly stabbed her multiple times with a knife. After the attack, Gupta allegedly went downstairs and left the bloodied weapons near the staircase.
