We may currently be in the midst of the FIFA World Cup, but football supporters in England already have their eyes on the Premier League as the complete fixture list for the upcoming 2026/27 season has now been revealed.
One of the most anticipated dates on the football calendar is 26th December, popularly known in the United Kingdom as Boxing Day.
The custom of playing football on the day following Christmas Day holds deep-rooted cultural significance in England, even though it has somewhat declined in recent years.
In the previous season, there was only a single match played on Boxing Day due to scheduling adjustments for television broadcasts—a move that drew widespread criticism. Fans will be hoping that this year’s fixture list restores a more traditional Boxing Day lineup.
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are set to host Manchester City, who currently have no permanent manager, at St. James’ Park in what is expected to be the headline fixture of the day.
Defending Premier League champions Arsenal will return to Selhurst Park, the venue of their title celebrations, to face Pierre Sage’s Crystal Palace.
Chelsea will meet their former manager Frank Lampard when they travel to Coventry City for a league clash—the first between these two sides in 25 years.
Elsewhere, Aston Villa will play host to Leeds United at Villa Park, while Manchester United are scheduled to welcome Nottingham Forest to Old Trafford.
Other fixtures include Everton taking on Sunderland at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Fulham facing Brighton at Craven Cottage, Hull City hosting Liverpool, Ipswich Town meeting Brentford at Portman Road, and Tottenham Hotspur squaring off against Bournemouth at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
All matches are currently planned for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday, 26th December, although timings may be subject to change.
