Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmed Khan has strongly condemned remarks made against actress Momina Iqbal on the floor of the House. He called the comments derogatory, inappropriate, and based on bias.

The remarks were made during a session of the Punjab Assembly. MPA Nadeem Qureshi mentioned Momina Iqbal while taking part in a debate on political representation.

The Speaker immediately intervened during the proceedings. He directed the lawmaker to withdraw his remarks on the spot.

He stated that personal references of this nature have no place in parliamentary debate. He emphasized that the assembly floor must not be used to target individuals.

The Speaker further said that Momina Iqbal is a respected figure in the entertainment industry. He added that such comments are discriminatory and unacceptable.

Following the intervention, the Speaker ordered that the remarks be removed from the official record. The controversial statements were expunged from the proceedings.

Separately, Momina Iqbal has also served a legal notice to Islamic scholar Nasir Madni. She has demanded that he retract his allegations against her.

The issue has sparked further discussion regarding the use of personal remarks in political discourse.
