There is news of relief for the people troubled by the scorching heat across the country. While issuing a new weather alert for June 26, the Meteorological Department has warned of worsening weather with heavy rain, strong storm and thunder in 21 states including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

New Delhi: There is relief news for the people struggling with the scorching heat and humidity in India. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast of widespread rain, thunderstorm and strong winds in many parts of the country on June 26. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather may change rapidly during the next 24 hours in many states of North, East, Central and South India. In some areas, the wind speed is expected to reach 80 kilometers per hour.

Experts believe that the impact of active monsoon system and various cyclonic circulations will result in intense rainfall and thunderstorm conditions in many parts of the country. This will bring down the temperature and people will get relief from the heat, but at the same time the risk of strong winds and lightning may also increase.

Weather alert issued in which states?

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of rain and strong winds for many states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Ladakh, West Bengal, Odisha, Sikkim, Maharashtra, Assam, Tripura, Nagaland, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Rainfall of varying intensity is likely to be recorded in these areas. Along with heavy rain at some places, problems like lightning and local waterlogging may also arise.

Main reason for climate change

According to meteorologists, cyclonic circulation is active at lower atmospheric levels over northern parts of Madhya Pradesh and surrounding areas. Apart from this, a strong weather system has also developed over the north-eastern and east-central parts of the Bay of Bengal. Due to these circumstances, monsoon activities have intensified, the effect of which will be visible in large parts of the country.

A forecast of light to moderate rain and strong winds has been issued amid prolonged heat in the National Capital Region. The Meteorological Department says that due to rain the temperature will drop and there can be relief from humidity. However, people have been advised to stay away from open areas and weak structures during strong winds.

Special vigilance in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

There is a possibility of strong thunderstorm with heavy rain in many districts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. At some places the wind speed can reach 70 to 80 kilometers per hour. The Meteorological Department has advised farmers, travelers and people working in open areas to take extra precautions. People have been asked to avoid going near trees, open fields and water bodies during inclement weather, especially in view of incidents of lightning.

Danger of landslides in hilly states

Strong winds along with rain are forecast in many parts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Tourists and local residents have been advised to keep an eye on weather updates in view of the possibility of landslides, road blockage and travel disruption in hilly areas. Experts say that strong winds and heavy rains can damage standing crops. Farmers have been advised to avoid working in the fields until the weather becomes normal and keep agricultural equipment at safe places.

Also, citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during inclement weather, use power tools carefully and follow the guidelines issued by the local administration.
