Today’s busy life, poor lifestyle and the habit of working sitting on a chair for hours have made people physically and mentally tired. In such a situation, nothing can be better than yoga to keep yourself fit and energetic. There are many asanas in yoga science that work on the entire body together, and one of the most effective asanas is ‘Paschimottanasana’ (Seated Forward Bend Pose). If you include it in your daily routine, it has the power to tone your muscles from head to toe. Let us know from the eyes of a reporter what changes occur in your body by practicing this asana daily.

Helpful in melting belly fat and improving digestive system

The biggest and direct effect of Paschimottanasana is on our stomach and digestive system. When you bend forward, deep pressure is created on your internal abdominal organs like liver, kidneys and pancreas, which improves their efficiency. This asana helps in reducing stubborn belly fat rapidly and boosting metabolism. Its regular practice provides permanent relief from chronic stomach problems like constipation, gas, acidity and indigestion. This asana is also considered very effective for diabetic patients in balancing the production of insulin.

Will make the spine strong and flexible like iron

Due to continuous sitting in wrong posture, back pain, waist pain and stiffness of the spine have become a common problem among the youth these days. While doing Paschimottanasana, when the entire back is pulled forward, it increases the flexibility of the spinal cord and strengthens it. This asana gives an excellent stretch to your hamstring muscles, shoulders and hips. If you often feel back pain or heaviness after work, then practicing it every morning on an empty stomach will completely eliminate the tension in your muscles and improve body posture.

The perfect medicine to relieve mental stress and calm the mind.

Apart from physical benefits, Paschimottanasana is no less than a boon for mental health. This forward bending posture improves blood circulation in the brain, which calms the central nervous system. This asana controls the symptoms of mental stress, anxiety and depression by reducing the level of cortisol i.e. stress hormone. This asana is very beneficial for those who suffer from insomnia. It gives a deep sense of peace to the mind, which helps in concentration and improves the quality of sleep tremendously.

Know the correct and safe way to do Paschimottanasana

To get the full benefit of this asana, it is very important to do it with the correct technique. First of all, spread a yoga mat on the floor and sit with both legs extended straight in front (Dandasana). Keep your spine absolutely straight. Now while inhaling, raise both your hands upwards and pull the body upwards. After this, while exhaling, slowly bend forward and try to hold the toes with your hands. Try that your forehead touches your knees, but do not be too forceful with the body in the beginning. Continue breathing normally in this last pose for 30 to 60 seconds and then slowly come back to normal position. Pregnant women, slip discs and people suffering from severe back pain should avoid this practice.
