IOCL, one of the country's largest oil companies, has issued a notification to recruit for a total of 1,524 apprentice positions across its Mathura, Paradip, Gujarat, and Bongaigaon refineries. Appointments will be made for the roles of Trade Apprentice, Technician Apprentice, and Graduate Apprentice. Recruitment Across Four Major Refineries
Under this recruitment drive, Indian Oil will appoint apprentices at four of its key refineries. The highest number of vacancies are at the Gujarat and Paradip refineries. Specifically, the vacancies to be filled are: 151 posts at Mathura Refinery, 582 at Paradip Refinery, 647 at Gujarat Refinery, and 144 at Bongaigaon Refinery, making for a total of 1,524 positions.

Indian Oil has released the complete recruitment schedule. Online applications and registration on the NAPS/NATS portals will commence at 10:00 AM on June 29, 2026. The deadline for applications is set for 5:00 PM on July 28, 2026. Subsequently, the list of candidates shortlisted for document verification will be released on August 5, 2026, with the verification process taking place between August 11 and August 18, 2026.

What are the required qualifications for these posts?

Different educational qualifications have been prescribed for the various posts included in this recruitment drive. For Technician Apprentice (Chemical) – Codes 101 and 103, candidates must possess a three-year B.Sc. degree with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry (or Industrial Chemistry) as subjects.

For Trade Apprentice (Fitter) – Code 102, candidates must have passed Class 10 and hold an ITI certificate in the Fitter trade. For Code 104, candidates require a three-year diploma in Chemical Engineering. For Code 105, a three-year diploma in Mechanical Engineering is required. For Code 106, a diploma in Electrical Engineering is necessary. For Code 107, a three-year diploma in Instrumentation Engineering is mandatory. For Secretarial Assistant (Code 108), candidates must hold a B.A., B.Sc., or B.Com. degree.

For the post of Accountant (Code 109), a B.Com. degree is mandatory. For Code 110, candidates must have passed Class 12. For Domestic Data Entry Operator (Code 111), candidates must have passed Class 12 and possess a skill certificate as a Domestic Data Entry Operator.

**Registration Required Before Applying**
Indian Oil has clarified that candidates must register on the NAPS (National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme) or NATS (National Apprenticeship Training Scheme) portal before applying. Applications submitted without registration will not be accepted.

**How ​​to Apply Online**
Candidates should first complete their registration on the NAPS or NATS portal. Afterward, they should log in to the portal using their login ID and password and fill out the application form. Accurately enter all the information requested in the application form and submit it. Merely applying on the NAPS/NATS portal is not sufficient; candidates are also required to fill in additional information via an MS Form or Google Form. Once the application process is complete, save a printout or PDF copy for future reference. 

Selection Based on Document Verification
Once the online application process is complete, a shortlist of eligible candidates will be prepared. Selected candidates will be called for document verification. Further processing will take place only after all required documents are found to be in order. Indian Oil has advised candidates not to wait until the last date to apply. They should complete their registration on the NAPS or NATS portal and submit their online applications in accordance with the prescribed procedure well in time to avoid missing out due to any technical issues.
