DU UG Admission 2026: Delhi University (DU) has launched the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS-UG) portal for undergraduate (UG) admissions for the 2026 session. Consequently, the registration process for DU UG admissions 2026 has commenced. As in previous years, the application process will take place in two phases. Meanwhile, DU has also released the seat matrix for admissions under the Extra-Curricular Activity (ECA) quota; under this, the highest number of admission opportunities via the ECA quota will be available in Theatre and Classical Dance activities. DU reserves specific seats for admissions under the ECA quota, with such seats allocated across various DU colleges.
Let us examine the details of this matter. We will look at the total number of seats DU will offer under the ECA quota for the 2026-27 academic session and the specific seat allocations for different activities.
**Admission to 1,370 Seats via ECA Quota**
Along with launching the UG admission process for 2026, DU has released the seat matrix for ECA quota admissions, announcing that it will offer 1,370 seats under this category for the 2026-27 academic session. These are distinct from the regular seats; specifically, supernumerary seats have been designated for ECA quota admissions.
**Highest Number of Seats in Classical Dance and Theatre**
DU offers admissions under the ECA quota across more than a dozen activities. A high score in CUET-UG is not a mandatory requirement for ECA quota admissions; however, compliance with specific rules and the submission of relevant certificates related to the ECA activity are compulsory. In line with this, DU has released the seat matrix, indicating that the highest number of admissions under the ECA quota will be offered in Classical Dance and Theatre. According to the ECA seat matrix released by DU, admissions will be offered for the following categories: Classical Dance (125 seats), Theatre (123), Classical Singing (109), Indian Folk Dance (72), Hindi Debate (71), English Debate (69), Sketching & Painting (65), Western Dance (63), NCC-Girls (56), Western Vocal Music (54), and National Service Scheme (NSS) (53). Similarly, admissions will be granted for Photography (44 seats), Yoga (42), Tabla (37), Choreography (35), English Creative Writing (33), and Hindi Creative Writing (30). Admissions under the ECA quota will also be available for activities such as Sarod, Indian Violin, Western Flute, Filmmaking, Harmonium, Quiz, and Western Drums, although the number of seats for these is limited.
**Selection Process for Admission under ECA Quota**
DU follows a specific procedure for admissions under the ECA quota. This process is based on the CUET-UG score and ECA performance/certificates; the CUET-UG score carries a weightage of 25%, while ECA certificates, trials, and performance account for 75% of the weightage.
**Admissions under ECA Quota in These Colleges**
If you are seeking admission to DU under the ECA quota, several colleges offer such opportunities. Colleges including Miranda House, Lady Shri Ram College, Sri Venkateswara College, Kirori Mal College, Hindu College, Hansraj College, Gargi College, Ramjas College, Shivaji College, and Zakir Husain College, among others, provide admissions through the ECA quota.
