Team India fielded first, Vaibhav Suryavanshi did not get a chance, Iyer told the reason

The first match of the 2-match T20 series between India and Ireland is being played today (26 June) in Belfast. Team India’s new T20 captain Shreyas Iyer has decided to field first after winning the toss. Iyer said that this is a new pitch for us, because most of us have not played here. Therefore, considering the situation, we have decided to field.

 

At the time of the toss, Iyer was asked whether Vaibhav Suryavanshi was playing? Responding to this he said, ‘Regretfully, no. He is a gun player but we have some great players who have done well. That’s why we are relying on them. When the time comes, he (Vaibhav) will also get a chance.

 

Debut of two players from Ireland

The host Ireland team has handed debut caps to two players. Fast bowlers Matt Hollard and Jai Mundhra are starting their international careers. The left arm pacer is from India only. He was born in Tonk, Rajasthan. He has played 1 First Class, 6 List-A and 5 T20 matches so far. He has 21 wickets in his name in professional cricket.

The command of Ireland is also in the hands of the new captain. Lorkin Tucker has been made the captain after Paul Sterling left the reins of the team.

India never lost to Ireland

World champion Team India has not lost a match against Ireland. So far 8 matches have been played between the two teams, in which the Indian team is ahead 8-0.
