Weather Update: There will be havoc in 15 states of the country today! Orange alert of storm and rain at a speed of 60 KM

Monsoon has become completely active across the country and today i.e. on July 1, 2026, the weather pattern is going to be very aggressive. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a major alert of heavy rain, torrential storm and lightning within the next few hours in 15 states of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, weather conditions may remain very bad in many large parts of the country including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.

According to the latest report of IMD, there is a possibility of thunderstorm and heavy rain in Nashik, Palghar, Pune, Raigarh, Ratnagiri and Thane districts of Maharashtra. Along with this, the Meteorological Department has already warned people about bad weather in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kollam, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Thrissur districts of Kerala state of South India.

Meteorological Department issued dangerous orange alert

IMD has issued ‘Orange Alert’ for 15 states of the country within the next few hours. According to meteorologists, during this period, there is a strong possibility of moderate to heavy rain as well as strong thunderstorms and lightning in many areas. The most worrying thing is that during this period, destructive winds can blow at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour in the plains and coastal areas. All citizens of the affected states have been advised to remain fully alert and strictly follow the weather guidelines issued by the local administration.

Stay away from trees and poles during storms

The Meteorological Department has made a very emotional and urgent appeal to the general public. IMD has said that whenever a storm starts, people should not take shelter under any big tree, electric poles or old and weak buildings. Citizens have been given strict instructions to go out of their homes only after having complete information about the latest road and traffic situation. Unless absolutely necessary, avoid leaving homes unnecessarily and continue following the guidelines issued by local administration and disaster management agencies.

How will the weather be in Delhi-NCR today?

A very big and cool news of relief from the scorching heat has come for the people of Delhi-NCR. Movement of dark clouds has started in the sky of Delhi since morning, due to which the weather has become very pleasant. The Meteorological Department estimates that today a huge drop of about 7 to 8 degrees Celsius may be recorded in the maximum temperature. Today, on July 1, the maximum temperature of Delhi is expected to be 32 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be 28 degrees Celsius.

Talking about the coming days, further drop in temperature will be seen on 2nd July. After this, torrential rain activities along with continuous thunderstorms have been predicted to continue in Delhi-NCR from July 3 to July 6, which will provide complete relief to the people from the humid heat.

There will be devastation in these districts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

Talking about Uttar Pradesh, today a warning of heavy rain has been issued for districts like Mirzapur, Prayagraj and Sonbhadra. The most severe form of monsoon can be seen in the neighboring state of Bihar. High alert of heavy rain and thunderstorm has been issued in West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Bhojpur, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Purnia, Kishanganj, Katihar, Khagaria, Munger, Bhagalpur and Araria districts of Bihar. There is the highest danger of lightning in these areas.

Clouds of crisis loom in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh also

The pace of monsoon has increased in Madhya Pradesh also. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in view of heavy rains in Balaghat, Betul, Burhanpur, Chhindwara, Hoshangabad, Rajgarh, Sehore and Shajapur districts of the state. Along with this, there is full possibility of heavy rains along with strong thunderstorm in Balrampur, Bastar, Bijapur, Dantewada, Jashpur and Sukma districts of Chhattisgarh.

Alert of dust storm and torrential rain in Rajasthan

Even in desert Rajasthan, the weather patterns have completely changed. The Meteorological Department has issued a double warning of heavy rain and storm in Sawai Madhopur, Tonk, Kota, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Pratapgarh, Udaipur, Ajmer, Sikar and Nagaur, including the capital Jaipur. According to meteorologists, during this period there will be strong wind gusts at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour in these areas. If we talk about temperature, today the maximum temperature in Jaipur can be recorded up to 38 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature can be up to 29 degrees Celsius.

Trouble in hilly areas of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh

Today is a very sensitive day for the people living in hilly states and the tourists visiting there. A severe alert of heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorm has been issued in Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Nainital, Chamoli, Almora, Rudraprayag, Udham Singh Nagar, Pauri Garhwal, Dehradun, Haridwar and Champawat districts of Uttarakhand. The risk of landslides in the mountains has also increased. On the other hand, a warning of rain with strong winds blowing at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour has been issued in Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur, Hamirpur, Solan, Bilaspur and Kullu districts of Himachal Pradesh.
