Ingredients (Serves 4)
For the burgers
- 1½ lb (680 g) ground beef (80/20)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 4 brioche burger buns
Toppings
- 8 slices bacon, cooked until crispy
- 4 slices smoked cheddar cheese
- 12–16 crispy onion rings
- ½ cup barbecue sauce
- Lettuce leaves (optional)
- Sliced tomatoes (optional)
- Pickle slices (optional)
Instructions
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and gently shape into patties. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Grill or cook the patties over medium-high heat for about 4–5 minutes per side, depending on your preferred doneness.
- During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of smoked cheddar on each patty and cover briefly until melted.
- Lightly toast the burger buns.
- Spread barbecue sauce on both halves of each bun.
- Assemble each burger with lettuce (if using), the cheeseburger patty, two slices of bacon, 3–4 onion rings, tomato, pickles, and a little extra barbecue sauce.
- Top with the bun and serve immediately.
Tips
- Use a smoky barbecue sauce for the best cowboy flavor.
- Freshly made onion rings stay crisp longer than frozen ones.
- Add sliced jalapeños for extra heat.
