Switzerland advanced to the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a 2–0 victory over Algeria on July 2.
The match was played at BC Place in Vancouver, Canada, with Argentine referee Yael Falcón Pérez officiating.
Breel Embolo opened the scoring for Switzerland before Dan Ndoye added a second goal to seal the win.
With the victory, Switzerland moves on to the Round of 16, where it will face the winner of the Colombia vs. Ghana matchup.
Switzerland reached the knockout stage after finishing first in Group B, while Algeria advanced from third place in Group J.
