The arrival of the monsoon in Dalhousie has brought intense rainfall, leading to significant drainage issues on the town's iconic Mall Road. On Thursday, the heavy downpour resulted in blocked drains, causing water to spill over onto the roadway. This situation created considerable inconvenience for tourists, schoolchildren, and local residents alike.

Upon receiving reports of the flooding, Vandana Chadda, the President of the Dalhousie Municipal Council, promptly instructed the relevant department to address the issue without delay. Local resident Ashu Gandotra also played an active role in managing the situation.

Residents have praised Vandana Chadda for her quick action and have called on the administration to enhance the drainage infrastructure along Mall Road and other streets ahead of further monsoon rains. Locals expressed their hope that the Municipal Council will maintain its proactive approach to civic matters while also prioritizing tourism growth, cleanliness, and the beautification of Dalhousie.

This year marks a significant shift in leadership for the Dalhousie Municipal Council, with Vandana Chadda serving as President and Reena Jaryal as Vice President, symbolizing a new chapter of female leadership. The community holds high expectations for the council, especially regarding development and effective problem-solving.

It is interesting to note that Vandana Chadda is married to former Council President Manoj Chadda, who held the position for 15 years.
