Enzo Fernandez’s agent, Javier Pastore, has acknowledged that the Chelsea midfielder’s camp is actively assessing options for a possible departure from Stamford Bridge. While a move has not yet been finalised, the Argentine representative also addressed speculation linking Fernandez with Real Madrid and emphasised that the player’s concentration remains firmly on the 2026 World Cup.
Agent confirms discussions over Chelsea exit
Pastore revealed that Fernandez’s management team is evaluating potential transfer opportunities away from Chelsea. Speaking during an AFA event in Miami, the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder noted that no firm agreement has been reached with any other club so far. Fernandez has been associated with several major European sides, including Real Madrid.
Pastore responds to Real Madrid rumours
The Argentine agent hinted that Fernandez’s representatives are preparing for a potential move but stressed that nothing has been confirmed at this stage.
“He’s only focused on the World Cup, and we’re exploring options for him to leave Chelsea, but there’s no concrete or confirmed negotiation with any club,” Pastore said, as cited by Marca.
Addressing Fernandez’s comments regarding Madrid, Pastore explained: “He has many friends there and is very close to Julian Alvarez. They often spend their free time together in Madrid. I also live in Madrid, so whenever he travels, it’s usually to meet me and handle professional matters. But really, who doesn’t like Madrid? I didn’t even play there, yet I live there.”
World Cup focus remains paramount
Despite the growing uncertainty over his future at club level, Pastore insisted that Fernandez’s attention is solely on Argentina’s World Cup campaign.
“Right now, he’s completely focused on the national team,” Pastore said. “He’s competing in a World Cup, and the team is on the verge of reaching the round of 16. He’s doing very well, staying positive, and having an excellent tournament. In the first two matches, he contributed significantly to Argentina’s victories. Enzo has evolved a lot in recent years—he has played as a deep-lying midfielder and also further up the pitch. For the national side, he starts deep but ends up being the only midfielder pushing forward close to Messi. He’s a player who adjusts beautifully to any role.”
Transfer discussions postponed until after the World Cup
For now, Fernandez’s main objective is helping Argentina achieve World Cup glory, with any transfer developments expected to take a back seat until the tournament concludes. Once his international duties are complete, his representatives are expected to resume efforts to determine his club future, even though no formal agreements have been reached as yet.
