It is quite unusual and frightening to have supportive feelings towards a criminal, or maybe for someone who was framed as a criminal. We never know unless the accused is convicted. Therefore, before deciding whether the accused should be considered a criminal, the law has protected the accused from the evil perspective of society by treating them as the favorite child of the law. But it is unfortunate that our society decides the final judgment itself only with a mere accusation. Which means if you have allegations against you for a crime, you are already a criminal to them, and you have lost the dignity you once had.

It is obvious that a criminal never gets public sympathy, but while watching the Korean drama “FLOWER OF EVIL”, I guess I was oblivious to the core concept of the drama that the lead actor, Lee Joon Gi, who has played the role of a decent husband with a hidden criminal identity, had been deceiving his wife, Moon Chae Won, for 14 years. Even their marriage has been based on the foundation of absolute lies. Is it not obvious that the audience has hatred towards his character, DO Hyun Soo?

But to be frank, I felt the opposite of it. While watching those 16 episodes of this K-drama, I was eagerly waiting for the climax to portray the exact same scenes I had created in my mind. I instantly and continuously prayed for DO Hyun Soo to be acquitted since they had beautiful chemistry as a couple and I wanted them to continue as one.

The overall drama is based on solving a 20-year-old serial murder case where the suspect is living with the identity of a different person, raising multiple questions regarding who he was and why he was living as a different person and deceiving the people he cherishes. Most importantly, whose identity was he using? And where was he? Similar questions kept popping up in my mind while watching the show; that is why I was in haste to know the climax of the drama.

To be honest, the show went from happiness to agony while jumping through some petrifying scenes, creating an anxious feeling for the audience. I found the drama extremely fascinating.

At the very initial of the 2020 romance thriller television series, we see a happily married couple with a 2-year-old daughter, but ultimately their life falls apart when his wife, who is a detective, suspects her husband’s involvement in a murder case that eventually leads her to discover his identity. But she has not given up on him nor arrested him; instead, she digs deep into the case and finds the actual and real criminal behind all these crimes that he had been framed for almost 20 years,
Which compels him to hide his identity.

And by the last of the drama, she becomes capable of solving the case and makes sure that an innocent person does not suffer from vain allegations in the future.

So, this South Korean drama ‘Flower of Evil’ is widely considered a massive hit and blockbuster. It was highly lauded and admired for its suspenseful plot, the acting, and the chemistry between the lead actors. The overall drama was worth watching that I found myself recommending it to everyone.
