Manchester United have stepped up their pursuit of Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
Earlier this week, a report by Spanish journalist Jose Felix Diaz, relayed by The Peoples Person, indicated that United’s leadership team—headed by sporting director Jason Wilcox—plan to engage in talks with Real Madrid officials in the coming days.
According to Diaz, Tchouameni has emerged as a major transfer target for the Red Devils, with the club “willing to spend money” to secure the Frenchman’s services after keeping a close eye on his progress for several years.
Speaking during Ruben Martin’s live stream, Jose Felix Diaz further elaborated on Manchester United’s strategy to obtain Aurelien Tchouameni’s approval for the move.
The AS Editor, widely regarded as a reliable authority on Real Madrid matters, revealed that United have proposed a “very good” five-year contract to Tchouameni.
The French international, who joined Real Madrid from AS Monaco in 2022, still has two years left on his current deal at Santiago Bernabeu.
Although Diaz did not disclose the specific figures offered by United, he emphasised that the proposal is financially attractive and competitive in today’s market.
In a separate report, The Sun stated that the 6’2″ midfielder could earn wages comparable to Casemiro, whom he is expected to succeed at Old Trafford—just as he did at Real Madrid.
Casemiro, the experienced Brazilian midfielder, was on a weekly salary of £350,000 during his time in Manchester. This high wage bill played a key role in INEOS’s decision not to activate his contract extension, despite his strong performances under Michael Carrick.
At 26, Tchouameni is approaching the prime of his career, and offering him a weekly salary exceeding £300,000 would be seen as a justified investment rather than an excessive one.
Widely regarded as one of Europe’s finest defensive midfielders, the Real Madrid star would represent a major coup for United. With INEOS aiming to attract marquee signings, significant financial backing will be essential—particularly when considering the spending commitments clubs such as Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have made for their own top midfield targets.
