Lucas Perri Not Torino’s Main Target as Leeds United Goalkeeper Faces Uncertain Future

Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri is reportedly not at the top of Torino’s transfer shortlist, with the Serie A side prioritising a move for Paraguay international Orlando Gill instead. This development could narrow the Brazilian’s options for a potential exit this summer.

Following their promotion from the Championship last season, Leeds United paid a transfer fee of €15 million to sign Perri from Ligue 1 club Lyon, aiming to strengthen their goalkeeping department ahead of their Premier League return.

Perri started the campaign as manager Daniel Farke’s first-choice goalkeeper and initially impressed. However, a dip in form midway through the season saw his performances come under scrutiny. Despite this, Farke publicly supported the player, stressing that Perri still had areas to improve.

Eventually, the 26-year-old lost his spot to Wales international Karl Darlow, whose consistent displays made it difficult for the former Lyon shot-stopper to reclaim the starting position.

During the winter transfer window, reports suggested that Turkish side Besiktas were interested in Perri, but no move materialised. Now, with the summer transfer window in full swing, Leeds are exploring options for a new first-choice goalkeeper and have been linked with Parma’s Zion Suzuki.

Perri, who is unlikely to be content with a backup role next season, has drawn interest from Serie A outfit Torino. Leeds are understood to be open to selling him for a fee of at least €12 million, making a transfer possible if a suitable offer is received.

A move to Italy could appeal to Perri, especially if Torino were to offer him a starting role. However, his prospects remain uncertain as the Italian club’s primary target is reportedly Gill, who they view as their ‘ultimate dream’ signing.

Gill, currently playing for Argentine club San Lorenzo, has been impressive for Paraguay at the 2026 World Cup. The 26-year-old has a release clause of €9 million, making him a more affordable option than Perri. His performances have also caught the attention of Premier League side Aston Villa.

Leeds’ goalkeeping situation remains unresolved, with Darlow out of contract and Illan Meslier having left the club on a free transfer. Perri still has three years remaining on his contract at Elland Road, but if he departs, Leeds may be forced to recruit up to three new goalkeepers before the new season begins.
