Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing of Atalanta midfielder Ederson dos Santos during the current summer transfer window.

The Premier League giants had previously reached an agreement with the Italian club for the 27-year-old central midfielder earlier this summer. However, the finalisation of the transfer was delayed as Ederson was called up to represent Brazil, following an injury issue within the national squad.

Speculation had arisen suggesting that the deal might fall through due to the delay. Nevertheless, Brazilian journalist Andre Hernan has now confirmed that Ederson will indeed be joining Manchester United and is currently travelling to London to undergo his medical examination with the club. This development comes shortly after Brazil’s elimination from the World Cup.

Ederson has played a pivotal role for Atalanta in recent seasons, showcasing the technical qualities required to thrive in the Premier League. His composure, tactical awareness, and defensive contributions are expected to strengthen Manchester United’s midfield significantly. The club has been seeking a player capable of dictating the pace of play from deep positions while maintaining control of possession.

The Brazilian midfielder appears to be an ideal fit for Erik ten Hag’s side. The opportunity to feature in the Premier League marks an exciting new chapter for Ederson, who is currently at the peak of his career. Having already proven his abilities in Italy and European competitions, he now looks set to test himself at one of the biggest stages in world football.

In addition to Ederson, Manchester United have also reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Andrey Santos, signalling a clear intention to overhaul their midfield setup ahead of the new season. The Red Devils are also expected to pursue a specialised defensive midfielder to add further balance to the squad.

With Champions League qualification secured for the upcoming campaign, Manchester United are focusing on building a squad capable of competing effectively across both domestic and European fronts.
