EV Comparison: Tata Motors has launched its new Tata Sierra EV in the Indian market. This is the 7th electric car of the company and it will compete directly with Mahindra BE6. The starting price of both electric SUVs is almost the same, but there are many significant differences in terms of battery, range, power, driving technology and features. Price and variants
Tata Sierra EV is offered in five variants—Pure, Pure S, Adventure, Empowered and Empowered A. It has the option of 63kWh and 75kWh battery pack. Its starting ex-showroom price is Rs 18.79 lakh.
Mahindra BE6 is available in four trims and a total of six variants. It has 59kWh and 79kWh battery packs. Its starting ex-showroom price is Rs 18.90 lakh, which is about Rs 11,000 more than the base variant of the Sierra EV.
Features and cabin
Tata Sierra EV comes with premium features like triple screen setup, smart air purifier, ambient lighting, ventilated and electrically adjustable front seats, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control and level-2 ADAS.
Mahindra BE6, on the other hand, gets modern features like 12.3-inch dual display, heads-up display (HUD), auto park assist, 7 airbags, electric tailgate, dual wireless charging pad, ventilated seats, panoramic glass roof and level-2 ADAS.
Range and performance
The Tata Sierra EV’s 63kWh and 75kWh battery packs offer a maximum driving range of up to 665 km (claimed). Its top variant generates a maximum power of 305hp and comes with an all-wheel drive (AWD) system, which provides better traction and performance.
Mahindra BE6 has the option of 59kWh and 79kWh battery pack. The company claims a maximum range of 683 kilometers (claimed). It is available in rear-wheel drive (RWD) setup with a power of 282hp.
Which electric SUV would be better to buy?
If your priority is long driving range, the Mahindra BE6 gives you a slight advantage. At the same time, Tata Sierra EV can prove to be a better option for customers who want more power and AWD driving experience.
In terms of features, both the SUVs are quite modern and premium. Mahindra BE6 gets additional features like heads-up display, 7 airbags and auto park assist, while Tata Sierra EV stands out due to its triple screen setup, AWD system and strong performance.
