NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund: If you appeared for the NEET UG 2026 exam and have not yet updated your bank account details for the fee refund, there is an important update for you. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the deadline for updating bank details, providing students with another chance. While the process was originally scheduled to conclude on July 7, 2026, candidates can now update or confirm their bank details until 11:50 PM on July 14, 2026.
According to the NTA, many students have not yet updated their bank account information. The deadline has been extended to ensure that all eligible students receive their fee refunds. Therefore, students who have not yet completed this process should visit the official website and update their bank details within the stipulated timeframe.
Why is the NTA issuing fee refunds?
The NTA had cancelled the NEET UG 2026 exam, originally held on May 3, 2026, following allegations of a paper leak. A re-examination was subsequently conducted on June 21, 2026. Consequently, a decision was made to refund the exam fees to candidates who had appeared for the May 3 exam. To receive the refund, all candidates must enter their correct and active bank account details on the official portal. The NTA introduced the facility to update bank details to facilitate this process.
How many students have updated their bank details so far?
According to the NTA, 1,028,223 candidates have updated or confirmed their bank account details to date. The fee refund process for these students has already commenced. However, the current number of applicants who have updated their details remains quite low compared to the total candidate pool. Approximately 22 lakh students appeared for the exam held on May 3. Consequently, around 12 lakh candidates have yet to update their bank details. For this reason, the agency has extended the deadline one final time to July 14, 2026.
How to update bank details for the NEET UG 2026 fee refund?
1. To claim the fee refund, candidates should first visit the official NEET UG 2026 website: neet.nta.nic.in.
2. Next, click on the link titled "Final Opportunity to Confirm/Update Bank Account Details for NEET (UG) 2026 Fee Refund" on the homepage.
3. Sign in by entering your application number and password (or other required login credentials).
4. Complete the two-factor authentication process.
5. Navigate to the option for "Bank Account Details Confirmation/Updation."
6. Carefully enter your bank account number, bank name, IFSC code, and account holder's name, or verify and correct any pre-filled information.
7. Candidates may also upload a cancelled cheque if they wish. After verifying all details, submit the form and save the confirmation page for your records.
Points to remember while entering bank details
The NTA has urged candidates to exercise great care when entering their bank information. Before submission, ensure that the account holder's name matches the bank's records and that the bank account number is entered correctly. Additionally, verify that there are no errors in the IFSC code or the bank's name. Ensure the bank account is active and enabled for online transactions, and check that all spellings are correct. Incorrect or incomplete bank details may lead to delays in receiving the refund or cause the refund process to fail.
When will the refund be received after updating bank details? According to the NTA, the fee refund can be credited to the candidates' bank accounts within approximately one week to 15 days following the successful updating and verification of bank details. Therefore, candidates are advised to update their information as soon as possible rather than waiting until the last date.
