In astrology, Lord Jupiter is considered to be the guru of all the planets, whose power and influence brings knowledge, peace and prosperity in the lives of many people. Not only humans, but many gods and goddesses also consider Lord Brihaspati as their guru. According to mythological belief, Chandra Dev also considered Brihaspati Dev as his guru and took education from him. After receiving education, Chandra Dev became proud of his power and strength. Due to this pride, he betrayed his Guru Brihaspati ji, after which there was a war between Brihaspati ji and Chandra Dev.

The story of the war between Chandra Dev and Brihaspati Dev is found in Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran. According to this legend, Chandra Dev once became fascinated by seeing Tara, the wife of Brihaspati Dev. After this there was a war between Moon God and Jupiter God over Tara. Now the question arises that why did this dispute between Chandra Dev and Brihaspati Dev stop?

How did Moon God originate?

According to the legend, Chandra Dev was the son of Maharishi Atri, the son of Lord Brahma. Maharishi Atri had performed severe penance to get a son, after which Chandra Dev was born. Chandradev was very bright and strong since childhood. With time he became proud of his power. Due to this pride, Chandra Dev kidnapped Tara, the wife of his guru Brihaspati ji. After this, Brihaspati Dev became angry with Chandra Dev. Brihaspati Dev asked Chandra Dev many times to leave Tara, but Chandra Dev remained immersed in his ego and did not listen to Brihaspati Dev. There was a war between the gods.

After being insulted by Chandra Dev, Brihaspati Dev decided to fight with him, after which a war broke out in the world of gods. In this war, Shukracharya ji supported Chandra Dev, while many other gods supported Brihaspati Dev. When due to this war a holocaust-like situation arose in the world, then many gods together went to Lord Brahma and prayed to stop the war.

Lord Brahma explained to Chandra Dev to stop the war, after which he realized his mistake. Chandra Dev accepted defeat and sent Tara ji back to Brihaspati Dev. When Tara ji was living with Chandra Dev, she became pregnant. Later, Budh Dev was born from Tara ji’s womb.
