Monsoon is fully active across the country and due to continuous rains, life is being affected in many states. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of heavy rain, strong storm and thunderstorm in 18 states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh for July 12.
Weather Update: The south-west monsoon has once again become active in India, increasing the possibility of heavy rain, strong thunderstorms and thunderstorms in many parts of the country. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of heavy rainfall and strong winds in 18 states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar for July 12. According to the department, strong winds with a speed of 60 to 70 kilometers per hour may occur in many areas during the next few hours.
The Meteorological Department has appealed to people to avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather, stay in safe places and follow the guidelines issued by the local administration. There is a danger of landslides and road blockage in the hilly states, while waterlogging and strong winds in the plains can affect life.
Alert issued in which states?
According to IMD, there is a possibility of heavy rain, thundershowers and strong winds of varying degrees in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Tripura, Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. There is also a possibility of lightning at some places and hailstorm in limited areas. The Meteorological Department has advised to exercise caution especially around open spaces, fields and reservoirs.
How will the weather be in Delhi and North India?
The national capital Delhi will remain cloudy throughout the day and there may be heavy rain in many areas. According to the Meteorological Department, the wind speed in the capital can reach 65 to 70 kilometers per hour. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be 28 degrees Celsius. In Uttar Pradesh too, warning of heavy rain and strong thunderstorm has been issued in many districts.
There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in both western and eastern parts. The maximum temperature in the capital Lucknow is expected to be around 33 degrees Celsius.
Chance of rain in Bihar, Jharkhand and Eastern India also
Strong winds may occur with moderate to heavy rainfall in many districts of Bihar. There is also a possibility of lightning in many areas including Patna. The maximum temperature in the state is expected to be around 33 degrees Celsius. In Jharkhand, the rainy season is likely to continue in Ranchi, Bokaro, Deoghar, Dumka and surrounding areas. The wind speed here can reach 55 to 65 kilometers per hour.
Heavy rainfall alert has been issued in many districts of South and North Bengal including Kolkata in West Bengal. Extra vigilance has been advised in Darjeeling and surrounding hilly areas.
Danger of landslides increased in hilly states
Due to continuous rains in hilly states like Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, the possibility of landslides and road closure has increased. The Meteorological Department has advised travelers to obtain local weather and traffic information before traveling on mountain routes. The water level of rivers and streams may also increase, due to which people living in low-lying areas need to be alert.
Monsoon will remain active in South India also
Moderate to heavy rainfall is also expected over parts of South India, especially Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours. Due to rough sea conditions in coastal areas, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea. Chances of heavy rain are relatively less in most parts of Rajasthan. However, strong winds may blow in some districts and the effect of heat may persist. The maximum temperature in Jaipur is expected to be around 36 degrees Celsius.
